So this little article was semi hard to read only because it seemed secretly long and boring, but once I “read” it… It wasn’t half bad.

Basically to sum up what M. Rose was trying to say was that being in a remedial course is not that bad. It has actually become wayyy resourceful and beneficial for some people, especially those that took the program he was over. I myself am taking a remedial math course ( lets’ keep that between us) and they say that it is suppose to help me, to be honest though.. I don’t feel like its’ been all that great! From reading this article, I’ve learned that there are many levels of a remidial course. The program that Kevin was able to be a part was very organized, detailed and had high standards

but it focused on the main goal which was to help the students succeed and become prepared for an average class room.

Not to say that Mike Rose thought Kevin was an idiot but he knew that many people didn’t have confidence in him, but through the success of the program Kevin achieved the goal of a college student.. RISE Above the impossible.

I know.. that last line was corny but hey, It’s a blog.

Thoughts on Literacy

Since week one in my english class we have talked about literacy and I am more than tired of it. I never realized how something so simple could lead into things that are so detailed, but the term literacy has broadened my horizon on what literacy is. My first essay was just the history of my literacy but the second was really really difficult for me… I don’t think that it was my best writing, then again I don’t consider myself a writer. I don’t write for fun so doing this is quite different for me. I do realize what Ms. T ‘s (my teacher) idea was when she told us to do this… Notice that literacy can be used in a blog or for “fun”
